Status of Trainers

Our trainer can develop in 4 Stages of their trainer career. Check out all about the stages and the benefits you get in each and every level. 

Your journey as a trainer begins here. This simply means you’re interested enough to be part of the life-changing experience of non-formal education in AEGEE. You might not be a trainer yet, but even the longest journey begins with the first step and this is exactly what you’re doing in this stage.

What you need to become a Candidate Trainer:

  • Be an AEGEE member (join your nearest local now if you’re not!);
  • Βe highly motivated to become a Trainer of the Academy;
  • Subscribe to AEGEE-Academy’s newsletter and be the first to know about our training opportunities!

What you can do:

  • Attend a TNT (Training New Trainers) of AEGEE-Academy; the best way to obtain the necessary skills in order to become an AEGEE-Academy Trainer!
  • Observe and learn how to become a non-formal education trainer with the support of a mentor.

What you can learn:

  • What it means to be a trainer;
  • What is non-formal education;
  • How to design, implement and evaluate a training session.

Congratulations! You’re now officially an AEGEE-Academy Trainer! That means you can already spread knowledge and support skills development in AEGEE the NFE way.

What you need to become a Junior Trainer:

  • Be an AEGEE member (join your nearest local now if you’re not!);
  • Βe highly motivated to become a Trainer of AEGEE-Academy;
  • Share AEGEE’s vision and mission;
  • Have relevant prior experience as a Trainer:
    • A minimum of 10 hours of experience in delivering educational activities (inside or outside AEGEE) if you have attended a TNT by AEGEE-Academy (or equivalent training course for trainers by another organization);
    • A minimum of 20 hours of experience in delivering educational activities if you have not attended a training course for trainers;
  • Fill in the application form for joining the Academy, which you can find here.

What you can do:

  • Hold training sessions/workshops in LTCs, RTCs, NWMs, SUs, weekend-long courses and any other event held in the network of AEGEE, lasting up to three days;
  • Be a co-trainer in a European School or other week-long training course of AEGEE-Academy;
  • Participate actively in the internal processes of AEGEE-Academy (voting, discussions in mailing lists, facebook groups etc.);
  • Contribute to our session designs database;
  • Be in the list of AEGEE-Academy Trainers;
  • Ask for a mentor that will support you in your next steps in AEGEE-Academy.

What you can learn:

  • How to design, implement, evaluate and follow-up on a week-long training course of AEGEE-Academy;
  • Gain knowledge on team management.

Remaining a Junior Trainer in AEGEE-Academy: in order to remain in the list of AEGEE-Academy Trainers as a Junior Trainer, you need to fulfil at least one of the following criteria during the course of one year:

  • Deliver at least 2 sessions in any type of training event in AEGEE;
  • Support the work of AEGEE-Academy as an assistant of the board;
  • Participate actively in the discussions among AEGEE-Academy Trainers;
  • Submit an original session design to our session designs database.

What you need to become a Trainer:

  • Be an AEGEE member (join your nearest local now if you’re not!);
  • Βe highly motivated to become a Trainer of AEGEE-Academy;
  • Share AEGEE’s vision and mission;
  • Have relevant prior experience as a Trainer:
    • A minimum of 60 hours of experience in delivering educational activities (inside or outside of AEGEE) if you have attended a TNT by AEGEE-Academy (or equivalent training course for trainers by another organization);
    • A minimum of 70 hours of experience in delivering educational activities if you have not attended a training course for trainers;
  • Be a Junior Trainer before becoming a Trainer, or fill in the application form for joining AEGEE-Academy, which you can find here, if you already have the required experience to become a Trainer directly;
  • Have participated as trainer in the whole process of a training event (at least one weekend long): planning, preparation, delivery and follow-up;
  • Receive a positive evaluation by co-trainers (with an “AEGEE-Academy Trainer” or equivalent status) and participants at the end of a training course.

What you can do:

  • Hold training sessions/workshops in LTCs, RTCs, NWMs, SUs, weekend-long courses and any other event held in the network of AEGEE, lasting up to three days;
  • Be a trainer in a European School or other week-long training course of AEGEE-Academy (subject to a selection process);
  • Be a training manager in AEGEE-Academy events (subject to a selection process);
  • Be a trainer in an external training of a partner organisation of AEGEE;
  • Participate actively in the internal processes of AEGEE-Academy (voting, discussions in mailing lists, facebook groups etc.);
  • Contribute to our session designs database;
  • Be in the list of AEGEE-Academy Trainers;
  • Be a mentor for a Junior Trainer, supporting them in their next steps in AEGEE-Academy.

What you can learn:

  • How to manage a week-long training course of AEGEE-Academy;
  • Have a deeper understanding of what NFE is in practice;
  • How to represent AEGEE-Academy externally;
  • Define your specialisation as a trainer.

Remaining a Trainer of AEGEE-Academy: in order to remain in the list of AEGEE-Academy Trainers as a Trainer, you need to fulfil at least one of the following criteria during the course of one year:

  • Deliver at least 2 sessions in any type of training event in AEGEE;
  • Be a mentor for a Junior Trainer;
  • Support the work of AEGEE-Academy as an assistant of the board;
  • Participate actively in the discussions among AEGEE-Academy Trainers;
  • Submit an original session design to our session designs database.

Hundreds of hours of experience as a trainer means you have already had a tremendous impact on the society, but that doesn’t mean you have to stop there. Even if you feel you’ve completed your cycle as a trainer, you can still support those that follow after your steps and keep learning from the process. Our alumni network exists for precisely that purpose!

What you need to become an Alumni of AEGEE-Academy:

  • Be a retired Trainer (no longer active in trainings within AEGEE, for a year or more, but still willing to contribute);
  • Have experience of being a training manager in a European School or TNT at least once.

What you can do:

  • Be a mentor for a Junior Trainer or Trainer;
  • Be an advisor of the current Board of AEGEE-Academy.

What you can learn:

  • How AEGEE-Academy develops and progresses along its ever-evolving history;
  • How AEGEE-Academy contributes to the Vision and Mission of AEGEE in the long term
