Training Course Ankara, 15.-18.02.2001

The Internal Education Team of AEGEE-Ankara planned an "organization" internal education weekend to educate its new members on "how to organize an event". This event aimed to find out and motivate new members who would be involved in the organization of coming events of Ankara and of course Autumn AGORA 2001.
Our event was nothing else but a "compressed" version of a European School! Our staff was able to fit a whole ES program including almost all the lectures and cases into 2.5 days! More than 150 members attended the lectures which were given in Thursday and Friday evenings and about 100 new members participated in the casework done in the weekend.
Just as in an ES, we had five different antennas all of which tried to organize the coming autumn AGORA. Our participants, having first attended the well-preoared lectures given by experienced AEGEE members, were really working hard to fulfill the many "interesting" assignments. Besides lectures and cases, we had 3 parallel workshops on Saturday one concerned with PR, one with FR and one with the possible ways of academic work in AEGEE.
Of course two most interesting parts of an ES, which are the interviews and the AGORA similation were also included! We all had a lot of fun in both of them!
We were also together in the evenings. We had a nice evening programme and in order to get to know each other better, we stayed altogether at nights in a student dormitory!
Both the old and new members of AEGEE-Ankra were highly satisfied by this event (this was openly seen from the evaluation questionaires). Everybody was so motivated and so willing to learn from each other!
AEGEE spirit was totally at work and in the end we all felt as if we were in a European event! I can surely promise that by going through such an education AEGEE-Ankara will be more able to organize a great AGORA.
Finally I would like to thank everybody who really worked hard to bring out this event in a very short time: people like our main coordinator Dijan, our case coordinator Basak, our experienced members like Refet, Metin, Nihal, Cem, Kemal, Hakan and many more including all other staff members and AEGEE-Ankara board who have put all their enthusiasm and efforts to create such an event.
I could recommend to the other locals, especially to the crowded ones to organize such IE events. They are really nice oppotunuties to motivate new members and get them really into AEGEE.

Many greetings,
Sezen Sekmen, AEGEE-Ankara
