WHAT IS SUMMER UNIVERSITY PROJECT SCHOOL?



SUPS 2010 is a one week training course which will provide its participants with all the tools which are necessary for organizing a perfect Summer
University for their local in 2011.

The programme of this training will deal with project management especially for SU's. Moreover, the 20-25 AEGEE-members from all parts of the network who are going to join SUPS 2010 will also get very practical tips concerning the organization of their SU like indoor and outdoor games, dealing with different kinds of participants and conflict resolution in events.
SUPS 2010 is supposed to take place in October / November 2010.


WHAT HAS TO BE TAKEN CARE OF BY YOUR LOCAL?



- providing adequate accommodation for the participants (20-25) and staff members (5-6) (preferably in a comfortable place with beds, arrange 3 meals per day and coffee breaks);
- taking care of the necessary logistics for the training programme: rooms for training sessions and technical equipment;
- preparing a SUPER and exciting social programme;
- providing the necessary documents (invitation letter) who need visa
- within the budget (if possible) reimbursing the trainers' and participants' travel costs (partially or totally)
- being responsible for fundraising (Academy Board, SUCT and the manager will help when it comes to grant applications, e.g. Youth in Action)

WHAT IT WILL MEAN FOR YOU TO ORGANIZE SUPS?



Organising SUPS is a great honour and challenge - waiting for you! This is your chance to contribute to an even better and more active Summer University season in 2011. Don't you want to be involved? And last but not least organising such an event is a great learning experience in terms of event management for your local.


THE APPLICATIONS OF THE LOCAL COORDINATOR AND THE LOCAL SHOULD CONTAIN:



- Motivation of the local for organising SUPS;
- Motivation, experience and availability of a person, ready to commit as local co-ordinator of SUPS until November 2010;
- Information about the local and city: past events organised, number of active members, experience, accessibility + means of travel;
- Fundraising experience: Has your local organised an event within the framework of the “Youth in Action” Programme before? If so, how is your contact with your respective National Agency? What are your recent fundraising successes coming from Non-EU sources? Which possibilities (grants, sponsorships) can you imagine for financing the training, other than “Youth in Action”? Can you host the event without funding through YiA?;
- Information on potential logistics: locations for training sessions, lodging, catering, the distances between the lodging place and training locations, copy facilities;
- a provisional budget for the event (6-7 working days + arrival and departure days) including expected fee for approx. 20-25 participants and 5-6 trainers.
