In case you are interested in getting involved in the T4T as a participant, please remember that today is the final day for applications!

I. Elections in Academy

While during the Spring AGORA in Ljubljana, AEGEE members discussed about what happened in AEGEE in the previous year and decided what should be done in the coming one, Academy had elections for the new board.

We are happy to announce you the AEGEE-Academy Board from AGORA Ljubljana to AGORA Aachen.

Speaker: Julia HoffmannSecretary: Ankie Knippenbergh
Treasurer: Wim van Ravesteijn
Fund-Raising: Marek Urban
Human Resources: Maarika Merirand
Communication: Gülece Şenel

We wish the new board a fruitful term and thank the previous board members, Radu Racarenau, Patrick Hanckmann, Patrik Reuter for their work, motivation as well as valuable contribution to the Academy.

II. Academy Events

During April and May 2008, with the host of AEGEE-Torun and AEGEE-Rijeka, Academy organised two trainings; PRES1 and ITES. Moreover, there are other trainings on the way! Check your schedule and choose the one that applies to your interest Hope to see you in the staff team of internal trainings !

PRES1-Rijeka

Public Relations European School 1 is now a colour in the history. 20 participants from 14 countries in Europe showed the highest level of commitment and motivation during 24-30 April 2008. All of them were eager to learn and did not complain about even the most "creative" ideas of the staff. The manager, Marek Urban, was happy to work with a
wonderful team of trainers: Ankie Knippenbergh, Arleta Bojke, Berat Ezel, Percin İmrek and Piotrek Wojciechowski. Thanks to the valuable support of organizers from AEGEE-Rijeka everything went smoothly and nicely. Hopefully, we will hear a lot from PRES1 participants in the nearest future.

ITES

IT European School, hosted by AEGEE-Torun, took place in between 11-15 May 2008. It differed from the previous two ITESes (Zielona Gora, 2004, and Tartu, 2006) with the profile of participants. The event was changed into a meeting of IT skilled people that took a look into the IT systems of AEGEE, and participants received more knowledge from the
experienced ITWG people. As a result, there are many people motivated to work on improvements of the AEGEE-Europe IT systems...

CDM

Besides internal education trainings, after two years, the Academy organises a Concept Development Meeting, which will take place in Mainz on 20-22 June 2008. For the CDM, we are very happy that Patrik Reuter will support us with making this a success. This CDM will be open to the entire network and of course, to the academy members. The aim of the meeting is to make a long term trainings planning for the
entire association. Recently, the applications are open! If you are interested, please apply the CDM until 2nd June at;

T4T

Preparations for the T4T are going on high speed!

In the last weeks the team of trainers was gathered. The T4T team will be composed of Academy trainers and experienced externals: From Academy-side Musa Akgül, Patrick Hanckmann and Julia Hoffmann will be supported by Bruno Antonio (YEU, Youth for Exchange and Understanding)

www.aegee-academy.org/es/t4t-bucuresti. We encourage you send this link to future Academy activists you know!

ES 1 Consenza

After the elections of the new board, Marek Urban took over the task of Patrik Reuter and became the contact person from Academy to the ES1 in Consenza. Currently, AEGEE-Consenza is also working on the YiA application and the planned date is the first half of September. Our host local has already completed the logistic parts. Academy and AEGEE-Consenza look forward to seeing you in ES1!

ES1 Patras

In the coming days, you will hear more about European School 1 in Patras. Currently, the Youth in Action application is being prepared for the June 1st deadline by Lida and Maria, local organizers. Maarika, the contact person for ES1 Patras in the Academy board also thanks everyone who has helped with the paperwork for the application. Watch out for the open call for manager of the training which will be issued soon.

SUPS

The Summer University Project School is getting into shape, with Vaggelis Mon as the manager and the Leon Team heavily motivated to make this training successful. On one hand, the Youth in Action application is being prepared and on the other hand, the concept is being developed.

III. Spotlight

Education, learning, life, youth and ... NONFORMALITY!

Nonformality is a non-formal web-blog about educational thinking and practice - challenging and provocative, but not only. Intriguing and provocative, it discusses themes like the formality, nonformality and informality of learning, Intercultural learning and intercultural dialogue or youth work and quality of youth work and much more!

Most contributions start from non-formal education and training in Europe it will be good enough as a starting point, but while some may think differently, in our opinion, it also isn't much more What good is thinking about non-formal education if disconnected from other forms of learning? What sense does it make to limit discussions about learning to a continent? Can educational thinking be disconnected from
society and politics?

Consequentially, Nonformality looks at education and learning
holistically and honestly, beyond limitations, agendas and promotional attitudes of institutions or companies. The blog hopes to become a space for reflection and thinking for the people writing, a space for information and inspiration for the people reading it and, inspired by that, a space for discussion and exchange.

IV. New Academy Members

We are happy to welcome our new members Agata Patecka, Daniel Soujon, Gülece Şenel to the Academy.

Agata Patecka; from AEGEE-Poznan. Agata is a member since 2005 and after her participation in ES 1 Passau, she became active on the European level. She is the speaker of IPWG and currently in the Cyprus Project team.

Daniel Soujon; from AEGEE-Muenchen. Daniel is a member for already six years, since 2002. In addition to his experience at the local level as a board member and trainer, he was in the board of IPWG for two years.

Gülece Şenel; from AEGEE-Ankara. Gülece is also a member since 2005. She managed the Understanding Europe Project in her local, participated several trainings at European level in AEGEE such as PRES2 Pécs and FRES and was in the staff team of ES1 Enschede.

We wish our new members good luck for their future involvement in the Academy and hope to hear more about their achievements soon

V. It Happened;

Courses, theories, exams ... After the relaxing life as Erasmus
student, Julia is back to getting used to being a full-time student. Moreover, she is not only running her team over e-mails or msn, but also works by snail mail. Academy board members were surprised to find mails in their postboxes

Marek started to write his thesis. Let's hope, he will finish before 30th anniversary of AEGEE.

Ankie was running around Brussels to facilitate the Case Study Trip Brussels organised by the CD. Together with Brian and Rob, she was introducing 24 young AEGEE'ans to the beautiful world of Active Citizenship, Brussels Institutions and Project Management.

... that Wim twice spend a week without internet. Funny enough it was only other people getting crazy about this, as they did not get any reaction to e-mails.

Although she still does not even have a subject for her masters thesis, Gülece will soon receive an honorary doctorate for "travelling between Ankara and İstanbul." For the last nine months, she succeeded to go back and forth every weekend...
