ACADEMY ACTIVITIES

*** ES1 Enschede ***

Content-wise the ES1 Enschede was a big success. All 25 participants left with very good feeling, full with knowledge and motivation to start or continue the work in their own locals. At the moment Academy board is collecting all travel bills, as we have a grant from Youth in Action. We are also working on compiling the evaluation results, which you'll probably see soon as well. During the final staff meeting several points of improvement came up, which should be addressed during the CDM and by the managers of the next European Schools in Cosenza and Patra.
A lot of thanks go to Daniel Nuijten, the manager of the ES1, together with the whole team: Francesca, Gulece, Julia, Martien, Nadine, Patrick, Radu, Sideau and Wim.

*** PRES1 Rijeka***
With one month to go before the event, the trainers’ team, as well as the participants were selected . Beside Marek, the team is: Arleta Bojke, Ankie Knippenbergh, Percin Imrek, Piotrek Wojciechowski and Berat Ezel. We believe that this combination of different experiences and personalities will result with a lot of fresh ideas for PR in AEGEE. In what local organisation is concerned, accomodation and rooms for the training have been arranged and the last preparations for the social programme are taking place. For more information, visit http://www.aegee-academy.org/presi-rijeka

***ITES Torun***
From the 11th to 16th of May 2008 the ITES will take place in Toruń. Manager is Alicja Łagodzińska, board member of ITWG. The open call for trainers has recently be send to academy-l, you have until 4th of April to apply. We are also searching for participants at the moment. If you have someone in mind, please send them to the website: http://aegee.torun.pl/ites/ & http://www.aegee-academy.org/es/ites-torun (for applications). Applications are open until 10th of April.

*** CDM ***
Preparations for the next CDM started and Patrik was appointed manager The CDM will take from 20 - 22 June in Mainz. Funding for the CDm is already guaranteed, as the meeting was part of the Multi Measures Application, approved by the European Commission. In the next weeks, a needs analysis will be conducted as basis for the CDM weekend. Content-wise it is planned that the CDM addresses the overall training system in AEGEE.

*** T4T ***
Last week we received the news that the Youth Application was successfully approved and that the finances of the T4T are assured! The concept is being thought through and at the moment, the gathering of the trainers (also externals), resource persons and guests is taking place.

*** ES1 Consenza ***
Together with AEGEE-Cosenza we agreed to organize the next ES in the first two weeks of September. AEGEE-Cosenza is already working on the logistics for the event and set up contacts with the universities in place. Open Call for the manager will be issued soon.

*** SUPS Leon ***
The location of the next SUPS was decided, and we are very happy to inform you that the highly enthusiastic AEGEE-Leon will be the next SUPS organizing local. The date of the event will be around mid November 2008. We want to thank in general all the locals that applied and a new open-call will be issued in the next days. Radu has been keeping a close contact with Katrin from SUPS to set the goals of the trainings in the best way, as to provide an added value to the already existing trainings in AEGEE. An open-call for the manager of SUPS will be issued shortly.

*** ES1 Patra***
After selecting Patra as a local for the ES1 in December, the local organisers will now start working on making this project happen. More news will be coming soon.

*** PRES2 ***
At the moment we are about to select the team that will work on the upcoming PRES2 and its concept! Stay tuned for more news!

IT HAPPENED

... that our secretary turned 25 on the first day of Spring!

... that during ES Enschede, Wim was the one waking up early to wake up the participants. We are now looking for participants that can stay with Wim for the whole year, so he would finally get up at decent times ;-).

... that Patrick and Julia thought about inventing the category "Education Quote of the month" while working for an article about Academy's work in the upcoming "Key to Europe". Here a taste of one of our favorites: "Never let school interfere with your education" Mark Twain
