December 2004

2005-01-06
Dear Academy members!
We want to wish you all the best in the New Year 2005!!! Enjoy the whole year day by day… and enjoy our newsletters one by one… ;)

December was a busy month for all of us. We cannot write about everything in this quite short newsletter, about all the discussions we had, the whole brainstorming and above all hundreds (!) of mails that were exchanged on the Board-L in the past month. So we’ll just stick to the core points of what we did and what we were working on.

New trainers

First of all warm welcome to the new trainers who joined us in December. And here they are:
Dagmar Nova - currently one of the 2 Czech trainers on our list :)
Marino Bresciani - our ITalian IT wizzard
Vaggelis Monoguios - The Greek Wave in the Academy
Alice Traverso Bernini - known as the Hero of Torino

Welcome on the list, guys! We wish you a lot of success and a lot of joy passing your knowledge to the others!

Calendar of Events

Plenty of time was spent on planning of the Calendar of Events for 2005. After long discussions and many, many mails we managed to fix most of the training events we want to organise in 2005. Some of them already have their manager, whereas on the others we are still working. We are currently finalizing the whole work on the Calendar and hope to have it complete soon. To check what kind of IE events will take place in 2005 and where it will happen, check the Calendar of Events on our website as now there will be more and more details coming on there every day.

PRES 1 and PRES 2

A part of this year’s training Calendar are also PRES1 and PRES2. For the first time there will be chance to train people not only in the basics of PR they can put into practise in their local. We want also to get more professional people who will be able to do the PR on the European Level, people who will be able to promote the biggest projects of AEGEE. For this reason the idea of PRES 2 was created. Both events cannot go on without the PRWG. The PRWG Board is working hard to ensure the quality of the events and thus also the quality of our future PR experts. Thanks to Basak and the whole PR team:)As a result of our talks with the PRWG on this issue we sorted out a clear task division between us and defined precisely ways of our cooperation on the trainings.

Work on the T4T concept

Another new concept in this year’s Calendar of Events is the T4T aiming at improving the quality of our trainers. It took a lot of Dijan’s and Fra’s time and devotion to make sure that the concept will be successful and that it’ll address existing needs of the Academy and of the Network. Future participants can for sure expect a lot of space for their creativity and a lot of positive surprises! You still have chance to be part of the T4T! You can apply on the webpage of the T4T: http://www.aegee-academy.org/es/home.php. Deadline 23 of January!

Clean up of the list

As you might know there are more than 140 trainers on the Academy-L. However, the reality is that some of them are not active for a long time and do not show any interest in supporting the Academy or AEGEE in general. That’s why we’ve decided to clean up the list. There is no reason to panic! We do not want to remove our Oldies and you don’t have to worry if you haven’t written anything to the Academy-L for a long time (although we’d love to see more E-mails from you there:). Only the people who are completely out of AEGEE and who do not wish to have anything else in common with the Academy will be removed after previous notification via e-Mail.

Promoting Academy

Already in the previous Newsletter you read about promotion of the LTC supporting tools and the HR database. We continue our work in this field. Don’t forget to spread the news about it at all times! We need your help with it! A new promotion tool are also (as you know from the list;) E-Mails sent permanently to every newly elected Board informing them in which ways we can support them.

Congratulations

In the previous month we’ve witnessed two outstanding events – Es1 in Patra and the SUPS in Salerno. Both of the teams did a great job! Once again – thanks a lot to the managers: Mark de Beer and Fabrizio Fantini as well as to all the involved people – local organizers, trainers and participants! Congratulations!

That’s all this time. As you can see a huge part of our time was spent on the tasks that need to be dealt with permanently. They are very time consuming but we hope that you can see the results of our work in this new year, full of the innovative and challenging concepts.
